Join us for Tom's Tool Box: A Compositional Workshop

Join us for an exclusive opportunity to learn from acclaimed artist, Tom Motley about the importance of composition. This in depth workshop consists of two 4-hour classes where Tom will discuss format, visual dominance, line and compositional devices. Artists will then have a two-week window to create a piece to bring back to discuss with Tom and their peers at the second session. *Lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be provided by the Center.

Tom Motley’s Bio:

With over 50 years of experience as a professional artist, Tom is also Professor Emeritus of Art and Art History, Richland College, in Dallas. Tom holds an MFA and MA in painting from the University of Dallas, and his drawings and paintings have been displayed in many national exhibitions. His paintings have been shown in the DMA, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, The Longview Museum and Art Center, Wichita Falls Museum and Art Center, and numerous galleries, including William Campbell Contemporary Art in Fort Worth, Texas

Tom has published several art museum catalogs, art periodical critiques, reviews of art exhibits, and research papers for the NEH on art and literature of the Greeks and Romans. He has received Fulbright art grants to Belgium, the Netherlands, and the U.K. Motley is a contributing author for Eutopia and Art Spiel - both online Contemporary Art Reviews.

Motley was a printer in the USAF, an illustrator in the Special Arts Department for Ling Temco Vought Corp., and a resident cartoonist for the infamous alternative press, Dallas Notes from the Underground. Tom's first solo exhibit, titled "Found Art" was sponsored by the Board of Governors, University of North Dakota, 1966. He has been creating art since 1966.
